FROM OUR DIRECTORY
July marks the Directory’s 2nd Anniversary and we’re so proud of the platform’s progress in connecting counselors and facilitating FREE state-by-state search for clinical supervision. The end result addresses the shortage of therapists around the country and gets more qualified counselors up to speed and ready to work.

This week, we’re proud to promote Mitchell Cloud, a practitioner in Olathe, Kansas thriving as an LCPC, a school counselor, and a credentialed supervisor. He began his career more than ten years ago at an inpatient treatment center for kids with severe psychiatric and behavioral disorders. Today, he treats children aged 5 to adolescents who suffer from ADHD, PTSD, mood disorders, autism, and social and emotional stress. Mitchell favors an attachment-based technique known as Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy and completed a post-Master's program in Play Therapy, which he often implements with patients and students.

Through supervision, Mitchell specializes in helping aspiring counselors work toward their LPC license, especially those interested in working in schools and with the youth. He offers supervision in-person or remotely, after school, in the evening, or on weekends. His teaching sessions deal with real-life scenarios and include the use of videos and role-play. He explains, “I want to help instill the skills that will make you an effective and high-performing counselor. Drop me a line! I’d love to talk with you and see if I would be a good fit to help you meet your career goals and move to the LCPC level of licensure.”

If you know someone in Kansas who might soon need a supervisor, connect with Mitchell Cloud in the CSD. He’s actively accepting new supervisees and may just be the mentor you need.

And if you’re a supervisor, no matter what state you’re in, you can
join the Directory today and start securing supervision hours.
FROM OUR FIELD
It’s no secret that the work we do and the real-life struggles we see take a toll on our ability to provide quality therapy and on our own human psyche. How much stress and sadness can one soak up in a day? It takes courage and grit to be a trauma therapist. It’s an ongoing battle against burnout, compassion fatigue, and secondary, or vicarious, trauma.

That’s why Dr. Jenny Hughes created the BRAVE Trauma Therapist Collective, a network she calls a “space to rediscover yourself with a community you know will rally around you and lift you up.” This BRAVE (Building Resilience Against Vicarious Exposure) initiative fosters a community of trauma therapists who too deserve to be commended and cared for. They hear so many stories of struggles with grief, loss, and trauma and it’s comforting to know there’s a coalition of counselors on board and eager to offer support.

Check out Jenny on The Practice of Therapy podcast along with this compelling blog covering the sacred role of supervision and the real issues related to vicarious trauma. Follow Jenny on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok to learn more about BRAVE’s online community of exclusive content, self-care tips, virtual workshops, and a network of colleagues you can count on. SUCCESS STORIES
In this business, there aren’t a lot of breaks but when success occurs, it should be touted and talked about!

Kudos to all the therapists and social workers working around the clock for the sake of our society. Your efforts are hard-working and heartwarming and we’re engaged to learn more.

Indulge us with a treatment that worked or a triumph you’ve achieved.
The youth of today are the leaders of tomorrow.
