FROM OUR DIRECTORY
July marks the CSD’s 2nd anniversary and we’re just getting started! We’re so proud and privileged to promote all the therapists, social workers, and supervisors making strides toward improving well-being and mental health throughout the country.

Our latest CSD Member Spotlight highlights Emily Krause, an LMHC and ACS certified to practice in Massachusetts and New Jersey. She’s super passionate about supervision and views it as a meaningful collaboration where both parties can learn and lean on one another. Emily helps aspiring counselors become licensed and many of her supervision subjects are enrolled in esteemed Clinical Master’s programs at institutions including NYU, Penn, and Rutgers.

Emily feels the supervision process is very productive and beneficial for her own client sessions. Covering core issues like addiction, trauma, relationships, and personality disorders, she demonstrates ways to implement tools and techniques tailored to each problem and particular patient. Her goal is to prepare each trainee to “build better rapport, conceptualizing their individualized perspectives and needs, and applying effective techniques towards more meaningful client outcomes, acknowledging their uniqueness and authenticity.”

With more than fifteen years in the field, she’s worked in private practices (The Therapy Room in Boston, and Hudson River Care & Counseling in Hoboken) and within social services providing case management to clients while valuing wellness and spirituality in her counseling work.

Currently accepting new supervision seekers, Emily offers counseling and guidance individually or in groups, in person, or remotely. Anyone in either MA or NJ in need of supervision can connect with Emily through the Directory. And for those seeking supervision in other states, browse the

FROM OUR FIELD
Becoming a licensed mental health professional is a gradual, sometimes grueling process; however, it can create lifelong lessons and meaningful relationships. With the multitude of mental health issues affecting our society, there are so many scenarios to explore and solutions to strive for.

From grad school to supervision to Continuing Education to licensure and securing a job, practitioners’ passion and pursuit to help people should never go unnoticed. Counseling breeds a tight-knit community that has strong beliefs, selfless dedication, and core values, as indicated by the National Board for Certified Counselors (NBCC):

  • Bias, bigotry, and racism have no place and are unacceptable in society and the counseling profession.
  • Each person is valuable and deserves respect and decency.
  • Mental health is an essential element of health.
  • Everyone should have access to high-quality counseling by competent counselors.
Whether one works in academia, government affairs, community centers, or private practices, the goals are the same and the problems persist. There’s a national shortage of mental health providers while addiction, abuse, and mental health diagnoses rapidly rise. Fortunately, more and more young adults are entering the field and in the midst of becoming licensed. Successful supervision is such a significant step in the dominos falling toward improved mental health. More and more patients are suffering and searching for answers, so we need more and more therapists to bridge the gap and help the cause.
SUCCESS STORIES
Around the country, credentialed supervisors provide hands-on training and tactical takeaways to foster the future of mental health treatment. Have you had a hand in someone’s success as a practitioner? Has a trainee ever reciprocated something you’ve utilized in your counseling work?

This Directory is devoted to everyone in the industry. One story shared or one obstacle overcome can impact the minds of many more mental health clinicians. Our network feeds off best practices and lessons learned, so share your success and join the conversation by following the CSD on social media.
